FAQ's Q: What is your quality like? A: I use a six thread serger stitch on all inside seams. This is more than store bought clothing uses. It provides the 4-thread overlock stitch seen on most commercial garments and a chain stich along side of that. A four thread overlock is generally enough and I still sometimes use this stitch. Look for at least a 4-thread overlock on your clothes, when people just do a straight stitch-that's when the inseams fall apart. To their credit, though, some handmade clothing makers with out a serger do take the time to zig-zag stitch or use french seams which helps the durability. I also line all of my bodices and sidepanels. I used to use muslin but have switched to better quality fabric , as muslin has shrinkage issues. Q: What about shrinkage? A: I pre-wash all my clothing, so it should not shrink any more. I usually use warm water to test the garment, but I suggest using cold water and drying on low. If you are ordering a hemp hand dyed product wash it separate on gentle cycle and line or lay flat to dry. Q: What is your return policy? A: Since I'm an independent person and not a big corporation, I can't do monetary or credit refunds, but I do want you to be happy. I am happy to re-tool your item if it doesn't fit quite right or if it's not quite what you had in mind. You can also return anything unworn for store credit. In addition, I'm happy to do future small fix ups for free if you do something to damage you threads! With the latter, I just ask that you pay the return shipping.
Q: I don't want to use my credit card on line, can I send in my order through the mail? A: Of course. If you send in the form using a visa or mastercard, please sign the bottom of your order form. If you are sending in a check or money order, make it out to Andrea Barbis. My address is 151 Seminary Avenue, Binghamton, NY 13905 Q: Any tips on learning to make my own hippy pants? If you don't know how to sew, start with something much easier and work your way up. It took me years to come up with pants and shorts that I was confident enough to sell, and I'd never even sell those pants again today, the quality just wasn't as good. Sew the crotch area extra well and always use a serger! Q: Do Hemp Clothes Itch? Ummm...is this a serious question? They don't Itch. Oh- and they get softer with wear! Q: Where do You go to learn how to sew and make things like that? I've just been sewing since age thirteen
and trial and error has been my best teacher. I look at and modify some
patterns and look at quilting books for tips and ideas as well.
